Us vs. Them Project
I believe that I am defined by my experiences. I think that I want to go the deconstructive route and use a map of the world as the first layer. I then want to draw curved lines (like the ones that airlines use to show their routes) to all of the destinations that I have been. I then plan to layer images from each of the destinations and contain them within the country or state lines that they were taken.
I have not been to nearly as many places as the image above, but I was inspired by maps like this. I would want to do a dark background with a white map and then draw the lines in different colors which would differentiate who I traveled with. I would then layer semi-transparent images that I have taken at each place in the various regions that they were taken.

Identity - VS 1 - Leporati
Facial hair has always been a big part of my life. Most men in my family have worn a mustache or beard, and I myself have joined them since I was 12-years old. I want to explore the facial hair styles of my family in this project. All my years growing up I've experienced a vision of the 'post-baby boomer's ideal masculinity.' This is a man with short hair, no facial hair and a polo. While there's nothing wrong with this character, I just believe it is a profile accepted as normal, I don't find it productive to vilify people based on their choice to not shave. It is not natural or 'normal' to slash your face with sharp blades and only allow long hair for women. Western society has gone bonkers. Most modern depictions of Jesus show him bearded and with long locks. Many interesting people in history had great facial hair, from Darwin to Einstein, George Lucas to Ron Swanson. Why are men not respected in business today if they reject the social norms?

Randall McNair Identity Critique 1
I choosing to do the Tarot, I will
be using just the major arcana, since they are used more for deep thoughts and
self-reflection. I will be using an eight card spread, what will lay out the
directions on a compass. North, south, west, and east, all have spiritual
meanings and are tied to each of the four elements.
The question I focus on, is who I
am. My identity.
Identity Critique One (Hadiya)
My idea for this project is to depict the variety of identities that describe me, and ultimately that contributes to my whole identity. There are four identities that I will focus on each taking up a spread and branching off to the next one kind of like building blocks. These identities are my legal documented identity (how I appear in the government system: race, gender, age), my social identity (who I am with my friends and how society may view me), my cultural identity (my familial roots, religion, tradition etc.) and my personal identity (how I would describe and identify myself) that last page would be these identities coming together into a whole to represent me.
