Identity - VS 1 - Leporati
Facial hair has always been a big part of my life. Most men in my family have worn a mustache or beard, and I myself have joined them since I was 12-years old. I want to explore the facial hair styles of my family in this project. All my years growing up I've experienced a vision of the 'post-baby boomer's ideal masculinity.' This is a man with short hair, no facial hair and a polo. While there's nothing wrong with this character, I just believe it is a profile accepted as normal, I don't find it productive to vilify people based on their choice to not shave. It is not natural or 'normal' to slash your face with sharp blades and only allow long hair for women. Western society has gone bonkers. Most modern depictions of Jesus show him bearded and with long locks. Many interesting people in history had great facial hair, from Darwin to Einstein, George Lucas to Ron Swanson. Why are men not respected in business today if they reject the social norms?
