Ethnically I am an American but such is the American way to
identify us from each other within this country by our ancestors. On my
father’s side is German, from both sides of his family having come over 3-4
generations ago to America. On my mother’s side from her mother is Irish
further separated coming from her grandmother from both sides of Ireland
(United Kingdom and Ireland), on her father’s side is Polish. So going by that
qualification I am 50% German, 25% Irish mix and 25% Polish. The only real
connection I have to this lineage is through the German side with food, some
self-taught German and culture. I don’t know what sect exactly my parents’ come
from all I know is that I was baptized as a baby, and that we do not actively
practice any religion in the household. My parents’ believe that if my brothers
or me feel the need for spiritual guidance we can go for that on our own
without them directing us. I personally practice a form of “Tibetan” Buddhism. Personally
I don’t identify with one culture I have an unnatural thirst for knowledge and
love to learn about how other people live and their culture, or their practices,
if it was possible I would want to live my life roaming meeting people sharing
experiences and enlightening myself to the ways and reasoning’s of others. This
only becomes an issue when I run into people who are not as open minded about
learning and respecting other’s cultures and practices, but you can’t change
others, you can only change yourself.
