My Worst Job Ever

Sandwich Artist
Chicago Bagel Authority
Chicago, IL
2012-present
I really get along with Kylie, who is around my age with similar interests and made a point to teach me, and hang out with me. I don’t hate, but I dislike one of the managers Chris, who had fired me at one point (the manager of the stores rehired me), and hasn’t tried to understand my personal circumstances or be kind to me in recent months still.
Objects: Bagels, aprons, bagel knife, rags, tin foil
Payment: $9 an hour plus tips, 24 hours a week on average
Total: $4,600

Babysitting
Tyler Kahdeman
Wilmette, IL
2011-2012
I really liked the father who was amiable, and a DePaul professor who greatly admired me as a person. I didn’t click as much with the mother who gave me a weird vibe from the first time I met her and I didn’t talk with her as much.
Objects: bracelets, nail polish, onesie for toddlers, stuffed lamb toy
Payment: typically $100 on average for a night, 6 hours typically
Total: $530

Assistant Teacher
Worlds of Wisdom
Glenview, Il
Summer and winter session 2010
I liked this guy Brandon who was attractive and friendly, which made the job more enjoyable and fun. But I didn’t really like one of the woman who was in charge who didn’t like me and was very cold and strict about any work I did.
Object: scissors, pencils, notebooks, tape
Payment: $8 an hour for 30 hours a week
Total: $1,680

Worker Program
Cedars Camps
Kitchen and Dining hall
Lebanon, MO
Summer of 2009
I really liked working with my cousin there, it was a huge bonding experience and I got to know him on more than just a distant relative way. And there was such a good group surrounding me and I really love the camp as a whole, I can’t even think of a person I didn’t like.
Objects: rags, silverware, pitchers, cups, crates, hose
Payment: free admission to camp, room and board, worked 36-40 hours a week
Total: Saved $1,200 of camp

For my job at Chicago Bagel Authority I would choose a deconstructive design. The place gets really chaotic and behind the counter it gets even crazier. The people who work here are all very random and artist types, so I think organizing and keeping this piece clean wouldn’t fit the job at all.

For my job at the summer camp at Cedars I would choose an integrative design with repetition because a lot of the job was doing the same set up for each meal in the dining hall. It became like clockwork to me.

For my job as a teachers assistant I would use a geometric design that is simple because the job was very straight forward and simple, it had a easy to know hierarchy and I even used simple objects for the work I did.

Best job: Chicago Bagel Authority, Worker Program
Worst job: Chicago Bagel Authority
