Einarsen Final Critique

My identity project is called "My Portable Life Museum." Everywhere I go, I carry my journal with me. I keep song lyrics or my own and others, quotes, pictures, ticket stubs, etc. taped throughout my chaotic journal. I based my project on a year of my life that I traveled without going home. I started in South America and made my way to Europe. I did this alone, not knowing a person in either continent. I believe I became a different person after traveling. As Mary Ann Radmacher said, "I am not the same having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world." Author, Keri Smith wrote the book and travel guide How to be an Explorer of the World. I remember various points from the book that was given to me before I left for Argentina in August of 2012. One thing I remembered was "keep pictures of patterns." This was easy to me as each country provided me with the most beautiful unforgettable colors.

I used Illustrator and Photoshop to develop a journal inspired design. I took some of the patterns from pictures I snapped while traveling. I identify myself with these patterns, because each one tells a story about me. Why each specific pattern caught my eye is something that tells much more about me than I "thought it was pretty." I have never been one to stop and stare at art in a museum, but when I saw it on the street throughout my year of traveling solo, I discovered a passion I never thought I had.
