In addition to the
think maps developed yesterday, I would like you to research other ad
campaigns with searches like "university advertising campaign" where
dozens of campaigns are available to view. Please
select three that you admire and post with a few sentences on why these
are strong.
In addition to this
research post, you should make sure that your group has posted an image
of your thinkmap, that you have contacted a vinyl sign company and
received a price quote based on your estimate of
what you are proposing BASED on photos that you have taken of the
north-facing wall of the CDM building. You should also check-out (on
foot) the advertising signage that is done for Columbia College and
Roosevelt University on the south side of the Loop, as
well as The School of the Art Instittute at Monroe and Wabash, as well
as the 112 S. Michigan location. I would take photos of relevant photo
ops.
These should all be
posted to the blog by the beginning of Tuesday's class ALONG with a
conceptual sketch/approach. Images would also be good, but if they are
not posted by Tuesday, they CAN be posted by the
start of class on Thursday.
Be sure to reference our class textbook for more information and ideas.
For your final project,
you should have a PDF file that contains at least 5 outside campaigns
that reference your approach and the feeling you want to convey. A
verbal summary of your approach discussing the
characteristics of your audience that you are trying to reach, and the
profile of DePaul that you are trying to communicate. You should have
visuals of your campaign as a stand-alone campaign and also as a
composition shown as it would look from the street
on the building. Finally, the costs of the signage (and installation)
should be included. We can discuss as a class if we would want to invite
the Dean and Director of CDM.
Also, please check-out this information on DePaul's latest campaigns. Please be prepared to offer your own critique.
